CMS of MODX 3 system was officially released
Today on March 30, 2022, the stable version of MODX 3 was officially released.
We will do a more detailed review of innovations in a separate post, for now, let's go through the main innovations announced.
- New, more modern CMS interface. The new interface looks nicer and more modern.
- Ability to authorize in the website admin panel without a password, using emails with generated login tokens.
- A new template selection system that should provide a better user experience and reduce the number of pages reloads when creating content.
- Βread crumbs in the admin panel "from the box".
- Ability to select the language of the admin panel for a particular user, which should facilitate simultaneous work on the website for multilingual teams.
To make upgrading easier, you should first look at the list of add-ons adapted for MODX 3 and only upgrade if all the add-ons you are using are fully compatible.
In addition, the code base has been significantly changed by modern web development standards. This means that although the developers have tried to maintain backward compatibility and the most painless upgrade from version 2.8.3 to 3.0, this should be done with the greatest possible care and only after creating a backup copy.

Support for MODX version 2.8.4 will continue, but the development team has not yet announced the timing, but a new release of this branch is already being prepared.
From myself, I would like to note that in the list of adapted add-ons there is no MIGX yet, which allows you to expand the capabilities of TV parameters and is used on most sites. Until this component is adapted to work with MODX 3 or its equivalent appears, mass development of websites looks doubtful.
UPD 19.04.2022 in the weekly newsletter from the developers, it was announced that finally, the MIGX component became compatible with MODX 3.
